Reflexology has been practiced for thousands of years in and is still popular today. Foot reflexology was introduced in the United States in the early 1900s by William H FitzGerald, M.D. (1872-1942), an ear, nose & throat specialist. Hand reflexology was introduced a few years later by Dr. Joe Shelby Riley. Reflexology was further developed by Eunice Ingham (1899-1974), in the 1930s & 1940s. She was a nurse & physiotherapist. In 1957 Dr. Paul Nogier (1908-1996), head of the French Academy of Neuro-Surgery & Neuro-Physiology developed ear reflexology.
